New for 2013: Planet Snoopy Upgrade

Re: New for 2013: Planet Snoopy Upgrade
Other than a marketing email, sent Thanksgiving week, stating that the Planet Snoopy construction had started; I have not seen any information from the Kings Dominion web site, their facebook or twitter account concerning the transformation of the kids area to a full Planet Snoopy.

The construction web cam is still not up yet. I wonder where the cam will be located? KD could mount it on the Dominator's lift hill and point it toward the central part of the kids area. They could mount it on the Eiffel Tower; that would cover the western and central areas of the kids section. I have a hard time seeing one web cam covering the whole area, given how spread out the makeover will be. I assume KD would have to use at least 2 cameras give good coverage of the area. Course, KD is not noted for their web prowess compared to other parks in the Cedar Fair chain. so, we will be lucky if they get one cam going.

Are there any plans for anyone from Coaster Crew to go up to KD before the end of the year and do a off-season video of the initial Planet Snoopy construction?

Re: New for 2013: Planet Snoopy Upgrade
Kings Dominion posted some Planet Snoopy Construction pictures on their Facebook page today. A lot of stuff is already gone. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 874&type=1

Boulder Bumpers will be getting a new look.

Former location of Snoopy's Splash Dance. I'm glad I decided to go through this a couple of times this summer.

I almost cried when I saw this picture. Yogi's Cave/ Treasure Cave provided generations of memories at Kings Dominion. It has been at the park since the day the park opened. I'm sure it will be missed by many.

It looks so empty!

Has anybody heard what color scheme will be painted on Ghoster Coaster, or will it stay the same?

It's supposed to be painted. In regards to all painting, they told me that colors are still being worked out.

Re: New for 2013: Planet Snoopy Upgrade
What was Yogi's Cave/ Treasure Cave like? I honestly never ventured in that area at all as I was always focused on the coasters in the park. I do have to admit that it is going to look strange not seeing those kiddie rides there anymore, but I do look forward to the bigger family friendly rides that will go in their place.

Scooby Freakin' Doo. For ever.

(I had a feeling they were going to rename it and was sure to get in some "last rides" with the remnants of the old name  )

^it hasn't been Scooby Doo for a few years now, they changed the name to Ghoster Coaster when the Hanna Barbera licensing ended.

Re: New for 2013: Planet Snoopy Upgrade
^^-- I said remnants of the old name. Actually didn't someone say the liscence doesn't end until 2014? Maybe their newer liscences don't allow competition. Otherwise it seems odd they keep changing the name. Everyone I know calls it The Scooby Doo or just Scooby and probably will keep doing so.

Incidently, what does "Virginia Clipper" have to do with Snoopy? Nothing. But in further consideration, GOOD. It makes it clear it is not part of anything new and only overlaps with the age group for that section. So maybe I'm on the wrong tack with complaining. But Scooby was a popular and well known ride name. "The Coaster Previously Known As Scooby Doo" (TCPKASD)??!

Re: New for 2013: Planet Snoopy Upgrade
^ Woodstock Express should at least catch on with people more than "Ghoster Coaster" ever did. I don't recall many people ever calling it Ghoster Coaster (rhyming / almost alliterative name fail - take note, waterparks :-) ). I think within a few years, most younger kids and their parents would call it Woodstock Express.

I'm redesigning all of the Coaster Crew Network sites throughout the spring. Please help me out by answering surveys and polls on our Coaster Crew Network News board!

My top steel coasters: 1. Top Thrill Dragster | 2. Manta (SWO) | 3. Montu | 4. SheiKra | 5. Volcano ... My top wooden coaster: El Toro (SFGAdv).

They're renaming it Woodstock Express. The VA Clipper was the boat ride that was there before. I prefer "Woodstock Express" to "Ghoster Coaster" as well.

it will always be Scooby Doo to me too. But I agree Woodstock Express is better than Ghoster Coaster!
